I must confess....

I tell white lies to my kids all the time. I know we all do from time to time. So why do we call them white lies? I'd like to change their names to something like "convenient lies," because that's what they really are. For instance my 6 year old is obsessed with his soccer practice. He loves it!!!!! But when you have 3 kids in all different kinds of activities sometimes it's just plain hard to make it to the twice a week practices. By the way, why do 6 years old need to practice twice a week? We all know that at this age they are so darn cute as they play chase the ball.

Today he has practice but we also have tennis lessons, a choir concert for school and soccer all hovering around the same time. the last few times when we had a conflict he told me to ask our neighbor to take him to his practice. So I have done this a few times, but really it's starting to get ridiculous calling each week "Hey do you think you can take the boys to soccer practice again, I know you already did on Tuesday and last Thursday and the week before that...." Anyway, even though she is so nice and does, I am just starting to feel like a slacker. And then I can't help and wonder if she is thinking, "Why does that lady have so many kids, she can't even get them to all their practices." I am sure she doesn't think these things, because she is not that way, but I would probably be thinking these thoughts if the tables were turned.

So today I told Carson that practice was "cancelled" and really it's not a lie because I cancelled it in my brain so that should count. I figured it's easier then last Thursday when I told him we couldn't go to practice and he had a fit and then walked up the street to the neighbors to tell them he needed them to take him to soccer practice. So to avoid any conflicts or embarrassment I have decided to declare soccer cancelled tonight. I just hope it doesn't' come back to bite me in the shorts..... (maybe I should hire a driver to take my kids to all their activites....now that's an idea)

Hello World

"I just found my voice and now I am gonna use it to get what I want. So if you hear me shrieking you would be wise to give me what I want. Because if the shrill high pitched cry doesn't get your attention, perhaps I will have to throw myself carefully on the ground to further prove my point. If that doesn't seem to work I can always try the pouty lower lip quiver. Then I am positive you will let me have whatever it is I want. Works every time with my mom. "

16 years

Last Friday marked our 16 year anniversary. Time flies when you are having fun. 16 years use to sound like an eternity to me, but some how it just snuck up on me in a blink of an eye.

I like to think that we have grown up together these past 16 years, seeing that we were just infants when we got married.

This is what I know about life you just never know what's going to come your way. Sometimes it's a gamble. Sometimes things work out and unfortunately sometimes they don't. Great people get married all the time and it doesn't always turn out. Marriage can be hard and challenging. It can also be fun and so worth it. I am just glad that in my infancy I had the common sense to marry someone that is my best friend. I like to think that Someone was looking out for me, because I really can't believe I could have made such a good choice on my own. Life isn't perfect and marriage definitely isn't, but if you have someone who loves you and is on your side you can get through the ups and downs of life together. I am a lucky girl. So thanks for the great years and here's to many, many more. xoxoxoxoxo

And they are off....

1st, 7th and 4th graders. am I really that old?
We are in the second week of school and life is sweet. The first week was a little bit crazy, between all the forms to sign, meet and greets, back to school night , figuring out carpools and the never-ending scavenger hunt for school supplies for 3 kids........now I can finally breath. And enjoy the fact that I have my days free from 8-2. Well almost free don't forget my little sidekick...(the blonde one unfortunately the dark haired one has to work all the time)

He has mastered saying "Hi" to everyone he sees. But it's not just an ordinary "Hi" it's said with his cute little high pitch shriek as if he is most excited to see you. Today at the gym the ladies in the day care told me he sat there by the door waving and shrieking "Hi" to everyone that came through the door. They couldn't get enough of it. Where was my video camera??????

Bright and Shiney Aunt Chrissy

Aunt Chrissy came to visit. She's just one of those people that everyone loves. She is happy, upbeat, fun and the kids adore her. We soaked her up for the short time we had her, it has been way too long since she stayed with us. It's fun to tell people she is my sister. I think at first people are surprised because we don't look too much alike and also the fact that she is a mere 17 years younger then me. (I am old enough I could almost be her mother) She got her beautiful looks from her mom and I resemble more my mom. "So we are sista's from another motha"
Please come visit soon, we love having you here!!! Good luck with Dental Hygiene school and can't wait for you to clean all our teeth....we will be waiting!
