Kentucky Derby

They call it the fastest 2 minutes in sports.....what's not to love about a sporting event that doesn't take all day and includes dressing up, wearing ridiculous hats, placing bets and enjoying fabulous food?

It's always good to have friends who could be professional party planners. These girls went all out. The attention to detail was amazing. From the roses to the table settings to the individual programs. They downloaded the actual program, so we had the horses name, number, jockey and the odds of them winning. We got to make our bets. It was fun to enjoy all their hard work and clever planning. Thanks girls it was simply splendid....even if I did come stag, because I made Mark take the middle boys to their tennis match.

time please freeze???

Feeling a little melancholy and so what do I do? Go through old pictures of my kids.....

And realize how time refuses to stand still....this picture was taken a year ago and these two look so young. I want to freeze them, yet so glad they are growing and learning. I try and enjoy each moment, yet the moments can be so fleeting.....

I want that....I don't want that.

This little monkey boy

Has just discovered the art of talking........and it makes me giggle to hear the things he says:
"I want that"
"I don't want that"
"I eat"
And he can say his brothers names"yake"is Jake, "arson" is Carson, "chish chin" is Christian

don't you hate it when....

....you wake up abruptly from a perfectly good night of sleep at 3 am because of a traumatic dream.???

I know that one of the side effects of the beta blockers I am taking to help control my migraines is vivid dreams, but do they have to be horrific and scary dreams? All I remember from my dream was that I was driving and I saw this beautiful eclipse (or so I think that is what it was) It was a big, round, bright beautiful moon or maybe it was the sun, not sure.

Then the next thing I realize is commotion on the freeway that I am driving on. Cars are everywhere! People are frantically screaming and scurrying to get out of their cars. I am driving with my kids (of course, because what could be more scary then being worried about all of your childrens safety?)

I am frozen. Not sure what to do. Do I get out of the car? What's going on? Has there been an accident? Is it the jolly green giant? Then suddenly people are screaming and desperately trying to run away from something. Not sure what, maybe it is the jolly green giant? All I know is I want to get out of where ever I am. So I just keep driving, on the median, over curbs, through the bushes, gravel and dirt desperate to drive fast. Of course it's a dream and you can never run or drive fast in a dream....and then I wake up....heart racing, head hurting....and now I will never be able to go back to sleep....so I surf the Internet for the next 3 hours til people start stirring in my house.....looks like I am gonna need a nap today.

p.s.....I was hoping when I read the label about the vivid dreams being a side effect that it would be more like insightful dreams maybe a dream that would inspire me to write a series of teen books and make like a gazillion dollars. Not dreams that wake me up in the middle of the night and leave me sleep deprived with bags under my eyes. And because of my old age I find it impossible to go back to sleep......waah waah waah

things that make me laugh

This boy......and I am not just talking about his teeth, although they are funny
How can a child lose 7 teeth in a just a few months and not make you laugh?? The new growth is taking over his mouth.
He is constantly coming up with funny stories, thoughts, and questions. He delights in asking me the toughest questions, for instance: Who is Heavenly Fathers, Father? Why can't he have a little sister? How come you can never remember your good dreams, but always remember your bad dreams...like the one about the wolf that tried to eat his baby brother. He was beside himself for days. I don't even recall him watching any scary wolf shows.
My favorite is when I happened to over hear him telling his big brothers "well only mommy is allowed to squeeze my bum" (What????? okay, yes I do like to squeeze it, cuz it's so round and cute)
He is the best at retells. Whenever he wants to tell me about a story he read in class, he does so with the utmost of detail and description. So if you need a summary to a movie, book, or show he is your man....and he will make you giggle while doing it. xoxoxoxo

Pain free....for me!!

I almost don't know if I should write about it in case I jinx myself, but this evening is the first time in a very long time that I am free from a headache, dull, mild, moderate or severe....Not one ache, I touch my head and their are no tender, sensitive, throbbing or sore spots. It's like it's not even my head, cause usually when I touch my head it hurts somewhere or everywhere.

It's seems that the past while (2 years) I have been suffering from headaches daily and migraines much to often. A few nights ago after having a date with my handsome husband in the ER. I decided (okay actually Mark decided) that enough is enough. And although I don't have all my answers yet, I am on a road to somewhere, rather then a lost road of pain and uncertainty. And it feels good. Now I may wake up tomorrow morning with another headache, but for now I am enjoying being pain free....please let it last!
