Dear Mormor

Dear Mormor, (aka grandmother on my moms side)
You should come visit me soon. I really am as cute as my mom tells you on the phone. I smile all day long and I hardly ever cry. Everyone fights to hold me and I just giggle and go along with it all. My mom schleps me all over town in her stinky, dirty car and still I hardly even complain. I go to 4 soccer practices a week, 2 soccer games, 2 tennis lessons, piano lessons, scouts, cub scouts and lets not even start with the trips to the school. Please come visit and hold me and get me out of that car!!!!
I promise to be adorable and easy to handle. I still struggle to sleep through the night, but my mom hardly complains because I go right back to sleep. I am not going to be small like this forever, you know I am going to grow up and have all kinds of opinions and I won't always let you hold me.
How can you say no to a face like this. Need I say more???
Love, your newest grandson---- Ethan

Inner Funny

I was thinking the other day of people that bring out the funny in me, thus I call it my inner funny. I love being with people that make me laugh or those that laugh with me (and probably sometimes laugh at me).

Growing up my brother would make me laugh and he still does. Although when I was young I didn't always think he was all that funny, because he really liked to tease me and of course his friends would laugh but I usually wanted to cry. As time heals all wounds I can now laugh at the things he did.

My older sister she makes me laugh! She's one of those people that can spin a story and make it so entertaining that you have to wonder what part of the story really happened.

I have a friend who laughs at the things I say which makes me feel like I am the funniest person around (which I am not) So of course I like to be around her, because who doesn't like to think they are funny??

My husband of course makes me giggle.

Laughing is good therapy, it allows our body to release emotions and stress. This is all according to the world renown Dr. Brigs. I am always amazed at people who even when going through difficult challenges still manage to be happy and find humor in their lives. That is a true gift. I think it's important to laugh everyday, sometimes I am sad when I haven't had an opportunity during the day to really have a good laugh, that's why having kids is great because they usually give me a good reason to laugh. And as I am typing this post my kids are in the back ground making me laugh because they are having their own Olympics in our backyard, they even made themselves their own hurdles out of all their skateboards.

Got to go, hope you have a good laugh today!!!

Here are just a few people that bring out the funny in me:

My Olympic moment

With all this Olympic watching and seeing the amazing swimmers, it got me motivated to start swimming as part of my exercise routine. You'd think with all the hours I logged on the couch watching the swimmers I would have perfected my form by now. I may not have it quite down, but I did learn a few things by watching them swim.

My Olympic Moment was when I accomplished swimming a half mile. The first day I started swimming I was just happy not to drown. Then, I completed 15 laps, then each day I bumped it up a few laps and now I am at 40 laps which is a little over a half mile. My next goal is to swim a mile and then I will work on my speed. Although I was quite proud of myself that I did 40 laps in 30 minutes. Not quite yet to Dara Torres speed, but hey I've got 5 more years until I will be 41 and at the Olympics swimming. Don't you love how every time they said her name they also said her age.

Here are some things I've learned about swimming:

Swimming is great exercise. First of all you don't get all hot and sweaty like other forms of cardio and second of all I don't feel my extra jiggle flapping around while exercising (unlike like running) In fact I feel real light and streamline in the water.

Most of the time when I go to swim my laps the other swimmers are usually older people and so of course it feels good when I can out swim and out pace them. Except for the other day when some young hottie swimmer came in and he was totally out swimming me and of course I was trying to keep up with him but there was no chance.

I will never in my life time master the butterfly. I just don't have the coordination or skill. I am just to old to teach my body those moves.

My stroke of choice is the backstroke. There is something nice about floating on your back that feels like less work.

It is awesome core exercise. I am dreaming of a flat stomach someday.

I have a whole new appreciation for my kids when they are doing swim team and swim like 100 laps during a practice. And I will make sure next year during swim season to understand their complaints after a grueling swim practice.

Its fun to have your kids coach you in something that they have much more experience and knowledge in then me. They like to give me pointers and I like to learn from them.

A good pair of goggles are priceless.

And now for the big question.....Do I purchase a swim cap? Because the chlorine is not kind to my blond hair. But I just can't imagine looking cute in a swim cap. Can you imagine the dorkiness??

Wednesday Weigh in

I am the biggest loser (in more ways then one). Today we had our biggest loser weigh in and I was the biggest loser (I lost 5 pounds in one week.) I am so excited and now totally motivated. I have come to grips with the fact that most of that weight might be water weight, and I probably won't lose that much again in a week, but at least I can feel motivated and feel like I am on the road to my old self. So I guess my multiple personality dieting disorder is actually working. Actually I think it's because I am finally exercising, not eating like crazy and cutting out sweets and desserts.

Twins

We keep saying that Ethan looks just like Carson did as a baby. So here are my twins separated by 5 years and 3 months. Of course what could be cuter then buying matchy matchy outfits. Since the others boys are too old to wear twin outfits. (I wouldn't do that to them anymore) Carson still is game for wearing twin outfits with his new baby brother. None of my others kids really look that similiar as babies, so it's kind of fun seeing the resemblance between these two brothers. Although as Ethan is getting older I think he is starting to look a little like Jacob as a baby. So perhaps this is the baby that bridges our family together, and then maybe people won't ask me if they are all brothers. And then I won't have to tell them how they all came from different fathers. Ha, ha just kidding, but it would be funny, wouldn't it?

Check out their same mouths
